UnivRS: Academic Approvals for Department Heads and Deans/Directors


The University Research System (UnivRS) is a secure, web-based system that provides opportunities for the research community within the University of Saskatchewan to collaborate on research projects. It serves as a central repository from which other systems can draw consistent and up-to-date information about research related projects at the University of Saskatchewan.

This workshop, intended for Department Heads, Deans, Associate Deans Research and Directors who are responsible for approving applications, agreements (i.e., contracts and grants), and amendments, will take the participants through the academic approval process in UnivRS.   

A training account in UnivRS will be sent to each participant, prior to the workshop.

  • To access UnivRS, visihttps://univrsapp.usask.ca/converis/secure/client/login.
  • Enter your NSID and password (same as PAWS) and click the ‘Login’ button. 
  • To logout, click on your username at the top of the screen to see the drop-down menu, and select ‘Logout’. Under normal circumstances, you will be automatically logged out after sixty (60) minutes of inactivity.  


In this workshop participants will:

  • switch between their Approver role and Researcher role
  • delegate their Approver role to another user
  • access Project Applications, Projects and Amendments to be approved
  • review the documents related to the Project Applications, Projects and Amendments to be approved
  • practice approving Project Applications, Projects and Amendments
  • use the Academic Approvals list page to review all the approvals assigned to them
  • use filters and reports in UnivRS 


  • Be able to log onto UnivRS
  • Basic computer skills
