Blackboard Workshop

Blackboard Learn is a web-based tool that provides the instructor the freedom to focus on teaching and learning techniques.This productivity tool can be used in all courses, from supplementing existing face-to-face classes to delivering completely on-line distance classes. It is easy for novice instructors to learn and use, yet powerful enough to handle the most advanced teaching needs.

This hands-on workshop is set as work time for you to develop your course or add features, with a Blackboard trainer present to assist you. No formal instruction unless requested. 

Things to consider when building your course:

  • creation of items, folders, external and internal links
  • creation of announcements
  • creation of assignment hand in folders
  • adding and deleting students to a course section
  • using the Edit Mode to preview course content
  • working with tabs and content items such as mashups, folders and learning modules
  • using tools available to students in a course section, including mail, discussion, chat, syllabus, wiki, calendar, etc.
  • utilizing the "Grade Center" to manage pre-built quizzes and surveys and distribute student marks.
  • setting the "Tracking" features to track student progress in the course
  • exploring "selective release" to control release of information to students.
  • editing the left side navigation

  • properly perform the day-to-day activities of the Blackboard Learn tool in a course.
